Damascus Knife

Damascus Steel is a hot-forged steel used in Middle Eastern swordmaking from about 1100 to 1700 A.D. Damascus swords were of legendary sharpness and strength, and were apocryphally claimed to be able to cut through lesser quality European swords and even rock. The technique used to create original Damascus steel is now a matter of historical conjecture. Many raw materials, and the Metal-Smiths recipes are no longer available.
The general term "Damascus" refers to metal with a visible grain pattern, sometimes with a texture. Modern Damascus is a lamination of folded steels selected with cosmetic qualities, with grinding and polishing specifically to expose the layers. True Damascus patterns are formed when carbon trace elements form visible swirls in the steel mix, that change properties when work hardened (forged).
Each one of our Genuine Handmade Damascus Collection Knife is Hand-forged and Hand-crafted from scratch; each blade and handle is a result of many hours of manual work by tribal metal-smiths and craftsmen in the non-oil-producing-regions of Middle East, locally famous for their Damascus Steel forging knowledge and techniques passed on by generations of Middle-Eastern blade-makers for Centuries.
This particular Handmade piece feature 272 Layered Genuine Damascus Steel Full Tang Blade and Genuine Stag Handle. Riveted Three times thru the Tang for strength. Overall aprox. 11.5", this Bowie Blade hunting knife is beautifully finished with perfect cut Stag and solid built to last for a very long time! The 7.25" (18.5 cm) blade is honed to sharpness only matched by a Razor-blade.
The Sheath is also Handmade from 100% genuine Cow and/or Camel-hide and double-stitched for strength. Made from the finest leather available in the region, the thick sheath is made to withstand decades of everyday usage.
